The law of tomorrow

What will UAE law look like in 2030?

Step into the far room of the majlis. Choose a subject and we'll tell you where the law stands today, where we expect it to be in 2030, and the questions your board should already be asking.

Today

The UAE has an AI strategy, a minister for AI and sector-level guidance, but no single binding AI statute. Liability today is assembled from contract, consumer protection, data protection and professional-duty rules.

2030 — our prediction

Expect a risk-tiered AI framework closer in shape to the EU AI Act but lighter in process: registration for high-risk deployments, mandatory human accountability for automated decisions affecting individuals, and sandbox routes in DIFC and ADGM for regulated use.

Questions to answer before then

  • —Who is liable when your model gives a customer bad advice — you, the vendor, or the deployer?
  • —Can you evidence the training data behind a model you sell into the UAE?
  • —Do your terms allocate AI output risk, or are they silent?
